This stitch looks very much like a net stitch, but it isn't exactly the same. Every other ring is joined to every other ring of the previous round; the remaining rings are for joining to the next round. The honeycomb is made up of tiny rings 2-2, but each second one is oriented back to the previous round. That means that if you want to do front-backside tatting, you'll have to change the order of your half stitches between rings.
