This is a large oval doily that I've tatted in 2003. I was playing with the idea of creating a sampler, that incorporates a large number of different tatting stitches. The doily grew much larger than I had anticipated. It it is 84 cm long and 44 cm wide (almost 34 by 18 inch). It is done in DMC Cebella No. 40. It features the following tatting techniques:
Cluny leaves. | |
Honeycomb net with Josephine knots.
Plain net or mignonette stitch
An onion ring | |
Needle lace fillings, popular in the 19th century
Spiral stitch | |
A little butterly with a long picot for antennae, surrounded by split rings |
